Sanwo-Olu’s healthcare plans for Lagos State

Babajide Sanwoolu’s mandate for health delivery in Lagos state is to expand the Lagos Health Insurance Scheme to reach 500,000 households by the fourth quarter of 2019. He will also increase health spending from 8.86% to 15% of state budget and expand the Lagos State Ambulance and Emergency Service coverage by increasing the number of ambulance points from 15 to 23.

Sanwoolu will ensure a minimum of 3 doctors, 3 nurses and 5 community health workers in all 345 PHCs by 2021 and see to it that all 37 non-functional PHCs in the state are refurbished and adequately equipped to handle maternal and infant challenges as well as other health issues.

His mandate for health delivery in Lagos further entails creating a Lagos Volunteer Corp to support the health sector, upgrading the sector to international standards to reverse the national problem of medical tourism, speedily deliver medical parks and support LASUTH to become a medical Centre of Excellence in at least 2 specialities.
